Waking up in the dead of the night
looking for a light to shine.
A light to show the way.
Through the dark corridors
and half closed doors-
careful, planned tip toeing.
Shouldn't wake you up
shouldn't break your dream.
Shouldn't let that peaceful
smile of yours leave.
Dead of the night,
howling dogs afar,
owls, bats and stars unseen.
The careful breathing
the sightless search,
dead of the night
without a light to shine.
Mindless wanderings,
insomniac longings.
All
for the heaven,
the Jannah,
of a midnight smoke.
